Value Driven Transcendence

Value Driven Transcendence (VDT)  is a behavior transformation method based on a combination of Human Need Psychology, Axiology Science and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The basic premise of VDT is that value is the driving force behind our beliefs, our thoughts, our actions, and our self-image. Our level of commitment to act isn’t determined by our willpower, our talent or our motivation. It’s determined by the standard by which we measure value.

The Goal of VDT

The goal of VDT is to empower a person to achieve their natural character potential through the development of an unshakable awareness of value, first in themselves and then in their dreams. This is accomplished through the development of an empowering “value qualifier” or VQ. A person’s VQ is the standard by which they measure the value of their skills, their talents, their dreams and the opportunities which come into their life.

More importantly, a person’s VQ is the standard by which they value themselves and by which they teach others to value them. Developing an empowering VQ is essential to a person’s ability to succeed and to live a fulfilled life. This is because life will always meet a person according to their consistent actions and habits.

No matter what someone’s dream is, they’re always aware of at least one small action they could take towards achieving it. The problem is that people don’t use the skills, the knowledge, the talents and the opportunities which are available to them, they use those which they value.

Through the development of an empowering VQ, a person can harness the skills, the knowledge, the talents and the opportunities which they already posses. As a person this happens, those opportunities increase in value and in number. The same is true with talents, knowledge, skills and with a person’s level of motivation and self-confidence.

VDT Presuppositions

  1. Value is the driving force of our lives. Value transforms thoughts into beliefs, beliefs into actions, actions into energy and energy into results.
  2. Denial is the only incurable limitation. Everything else can be transformed or transcended through a strong awareness of value.
  3. Beliefs aren’t true. They only cause us to see and experience things as we believe that they are.
  4. Courage happens when your awareness of value exceeds your awareness of cost.
  5. The only thing which makes thoughts or emotions negative or positive is the actions we take in response to them.
  6. Unlike NLP, VDT is based on the philosophy that our behaviors aren’t a product or our programming or our conditioning but a product of  our choices.
  7. There is no subconscious mind, what is commonly called the subconscious mind is a term used to describe the intelligence within the cells of your physical body.*
  8. Mediocrity is a symptom of imitation. Greatness can only be achieved through genuine discovery and acceptance of who you already are.
  9. Your self-image is your real self, it’s the only part of you that’s actively involved in your life and therefore  it sets the standard for the results that you attract into your life.
  10. Genius is a state of being which comes as a result of aligning your life with your natural talents and with the deepest desires of your heart.

The Four Pillars of Value Driven Transcendence

  1. Know Yourself: The Law of Clarity.

Fruit of the Law of Clarity: Strong sense of Identity and self-awareness.

Presuppositions of the Law of Clarity:

Manifestation vs Transformation: Manifestation of outside results isn’t as important as inner transformation of character. If one manifests outside results which are inconsistent with their character, those results either won’t last or will magnify the weaknesses in the person’s character. However, if one’s character is properly aligned with what they want, success and fulfillment comes as a natural result of their actions.

Positive thinking vs Proactive thinking: not everything that happens in our life is positive. There are times when positive thinking can become optimistic denial. On the other hand, proactive thinking is being able to see things for what they are, to respond with positive actions and to become an active participant in the creation of your desired future.

Confidence vs Self-Awareness: Confidence is only empowering if it’s based on self-awareness. When confidence is faked or developed through imitation and modeling of confident traits, it creates  a sense of false security, even if it fools those around you. Confidence based on self-awareness  and acceptance of all who you are causes insecurity to vanish as you become a whole person.

Becoming vs Discovering: Unlike NLP, VDT focuses on discovering your own inner greatness instead of on becoming someone great by means of modeling or imitation. In order to become all that you are, you have to accept and to value all that you are. This allows the hidden parts of your character to express themselves openly and to mature within the context of real life.

  1. Know Your Limitations: The Law of Elimination.

Fruit of the Law of Elimination: Strong sense of Discipline and balance.

Presuppositions of the Law of Elimination:

Busy vs Responsible: When a person extends their actions beyond the boundaries of their own limitations, they aren’t being responsible for their own life. Being responsible for your life requires knowing and letting go of your “weakness” and your limitations to control and influence things outside the boundaries of your capability.

Elimination vs Transcendence: The attempt to eliminate emotions which are considered to be “negative” is a battle against a natural condition of your body and a waste of energy. By redirecting your emotions to fuel positive action, you can transcend any state of mind or body and use your emotional energy to fuel positive change.

Productive vs Fulfilled: Being productive  is often a means of running away from the questions as to what will bring a person true fulfillment. Being fulfilled begins with letting go of achieving for achievement’s  sake and preparing to redirect that energy towards the pursuit of one’s personal growth and purpose.

Motivation vs Direction: Direction is more important than motivation and a wiser course of action for inspiring someone to take action. People already have more than enough motivation to succeed and are often pushing themselves to the level of exhaustion as a result. When this energy is given direction, a person’s natural capacity for motivation is more than enough.

  1. Give Yourself: The Law of Contribution.

Fruit of the Law of Contribution: Strong sense of Compassion and belonging.

Presuppositions of the Law of Contribution:

Deserved vs Needed: Deserving is just an idea which has no place in the context of real life. Your willingness to make a contribution to others is better off based on what they need than on what they “deserve.”  Contribution which is focused on meeting the needs of others is the epitome of unconditional love and the most practical means of attracting the people into your life who inspire you to succeed.

Deserved vs Earned: Your level of success is in life is determined not by what you deserve but by what you earn. People get things that they don’t “deserve” all the time, both good things and bad. Attempting to convince yourself whether you deserve something or not is a waste of energy. It’s better to commit to a level of contribution which is equal in proportion and in quality to what you wish to receive.

Opportunity vs Passion: The pursuit of passion is more fruitful than the pursuit of opportunity. Passion has the power to create opportunities where they would have otherwise been scarce or non-existent. Being driven by passion also empowers one to recognize and leverage opportunities which are consistent with that passion when those opportunities do arise.

Control vs Influence: Influencing others out of a demonstration of your own character  is more effective than controlling or managing them. Influence is the natural result of developing the character traits within yourself which you wish to inspire others. This is why the greatest contribution you can make to others is to unleash your natural potential and to become who you were born to be.

  1. Never Give Up: The Law of Perseverance.

Fruit of the Law of Perseverance: Strong sense of Trust and Commitment.

Presuppositions of the Law of Perseverance:

Failure vs Learning: The only way to fail is to give up, everything else is just learning. Experience is the best teacher, and experience only happens when things don’t go your way. As long as you fail, learn from it and adjust your approach without abandoning your original goal, failure becomes the the price you pay to achieve success.

Fault vs Responsible: Acknowledging responsibility is the key to learning from failure and growing through adversity. Finding fault with yourself or another person only encourages judgment and keeps you stuck in the blaming stage. Once you acknowledge your responsibility to learn from the failure or adversity, it becomes an opportunity to learn and to grow.

Preparation vs Presence: Being present to the moment is more important than being prepared for the future. Planning, dreaming and preparing for the future keeps you from being present and nothing in life happens according to a structured plan anyway. However, if you own the present moment by committing yourself 100% to being present, you’ll own the future as well.

Reflection vs Reality: Perseverance often  requires 100% of your energy to be committed to transcending your present circumstances.  The less present you are, the more your view of the outer world becomes a reflection of your inner world, making it harder to face the present with wisdom. However, knowing yourself and knowing your limitations empowers you to separate your identity from your circumstances and overcome adversity.
